Technical Support & Quality Engineer Europe

The Technical Support & Quality Engineer Europe serves as the primary technical interface between customers, sales, suppliers and internal teams within AFA Europe. This role ensures strong alignment between sales opportunities, customer requirements, product performance, quality compliance and operational capabilities.

Acting as both a technical advisor and quality lead, the position supports the European sales organization with application expertise, drives resolution of technical and quality issues, and oversees product changes throughout the lifecycle. The role also ensures compliance with regulatory standards while delivering practical, commercially viable, and high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Product & Sales Support

  • Advice as the technical expert supporting the European sales team and customers on product applications, specifications, and performance.
  • Provide product training and technical guidance to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage and resolve customer complaints in line with AFA standards, product specifications, and operational capabilities.
  • Translate customer needs and business requirements into clear technical specifications, proposals, and implementation plans.
  • Coordinate product changes and new configuration requests, including specification updates, industrialization, testing and release processes.
  • Act as the technical authority within the sales organization, balancing customer expectations with compliance, risk, and practical solutions.

Quality Assurance, Sustainability & Compliance

  • Lead quality related activities including audits, certifications, product inspections, improvement actions, new product and new supplier validations.
  • Ensure compliance with EU regulations and AFA standards (e.g. GPSR & PPWR) within the home and personal care packaging industry.
  • Conduct root cause analyses (8D), risk assessments, and coordinate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with global Quality, Operations, and R&I teams to align product specifications with European requirements, supplier and customer agreements.
  • Support sustainability initiatives and ensure integration into product development and quality processes.

Project Coordination

  • Lead European cross functional projects involving Sales, Quality, R&I, Supply Chain, Finance, and external partners.
  • Define project scope, timelines, deliverables, and resource requirements.
  • Monitor execution, progress, manage risks, and ensure timely and successful project delivery.
  • Apply consistent project management methodologies and reporting standards.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the key interface between customers, sales teams, suppliers, regulatory bodies, auditors and AFA operations Europe organization.
  • Communicate technical topics, project updates, and risks clearly to stakeholders and management.
  • Drive alignment across technical, quality, sustainability, operational, and commercial objectives.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Engineering, Quality Management or Plastics Engineering (Injection Molding/Assembly).
  • 3–5 years of experience in technical product support, quality assurance, or project management within a commercial environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working in international, cross-functional teams.
  • Strong proficiency in English (written and verbal).
  • Willingness to travel for customer and supplier visits.
  • Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt) or project management certification is an advantage.
  • Location: Preferably within commuting distance of Eindhoven.
