ABOUT THIS ROLE

The structure engineer will take charge of combing core technology of AFA and the specific requests from regional clients, to upgrade products of AFA, to solve technical problems, and to ensure the development outcome meets the quality and performance requirements of these clients.

He/she will be responsible for overcoming any (technical) hiccups during the development projects and takes up hands-on executional tasks within the project such as concept engineering, product engineering, prototyping and testing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Product development and engineering. Responsible for structural design of packaging (e.g., sprayers, lotion pumps, cream jars, tubes), including 3D modeling (SolidWorks/UG) and 2D engineering drawing output, ensuring the structure meets product functions (e.g., sealing, smooth pressing) and aesthetic requirements.
  • Project and product documentation. Organize packaging structural design specifications, BOM lists, and test reports, establish and maintain the company’s packaging structural technology database.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems and take corrective actions. Lead performance verification and optimization of packaging structures, resolve pre-mass-production structural issues (e.g., liquid leakage, part breakage) through drop tests, sealing tests, and life tests.
  • Conduct end-to-end design and develop for local projects. Collaborate with Global R&I, technical, QA and factory to advance packaging from design to mass production, output mold technical requirements, and follow up with teams for mold trial, modification, and mass production ramp-up.
  • Pro-actively liaise with the customer, product management, operations project managers and operations engineering.
  • Collect structural information of market competitive packaging, analyze technical trends, and propose packaging structural innovation solutions (e.g., lightweight, recyclable design) to enhance product competitiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A BSc degree in mechanical engineering, material engineering, or packaging engineering majors, preferably related to plastics manufacturing.
  • Solid technical background, experience in structural engineering, plastic component design, plastic component manufacturing and multi component assembly.
  • Proficient in 3D design software (SolidWorks) and CAD software, capable of independently completing the full-process design from modeling to engineering drawings.
  • Experience in structural design of packaging is preferred. Understand industry standards for FMCG packaging (e.g., sealing, chemical resistance), with experience in solving practical mass-production structural issues.
  • Experience with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practice and own good project promotion awareness.
