Data scientist

AFA Dispensing is a global innovator in dispensing technologies used by leading brands worldwide. Every day, we challenge the status quo to create smarter, more sustainable, and more effective dispensing solutions. Our work combines engineering excellence, material science, sustainability, product innovation, and deep technical expertise.

To strengthen our Research & Innovation (R&I) organization, we are looking for a Data Scientist who will elevate our analytical capabilities and help shape the future of dispensing technology.

About the Role

As the Data Scientist at R&I, you are the central expert for data management, advanced analytics, modelling, and data-driven insights. You bring structure, depth, and vision to the way the team uses data.

You transform raw data into meaningful insights that guide new product development, improve system performance, support in key decisions, and identify new opportunities for innovation.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and play an important role within innovative projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Design, prototype, and deploy predictive models, statistical tools, and simulation models.
  • Combine datasets from engineering, chemistry, quality, commercial, and operational sources to generate cross-functional insights.
  • Develop statistical frameworks for formula–device interaction, fluid dynamics modelling, and performance prediction.
  • Safeguard data quality, consistency, and compliance with regulatory and privacy standards.
  • Support R&I and Product Engineering through modelling, simulations, and design optimization.
  • Align data collection standards, measurement methods, and reporting across R&I activities.
  • Train and guide the team in using data tools, dashboards, and analytical methodologies.
  • Stay up to date with advancements in modelling, data architecture, cloud analytics, and digital lab technologies.
  • Explore new analytical tools that can support AFA’s innovation pipeline.

You will have the autonomy to:

  • Define R&I’s data analytics procedure.
  • Select modelling approaches, tools, and data methodologies.
  • Approve external analytical platforms and partnerships.
  • Govern data sources, pipelines, and modelling environments.
  • Sign off on statistical analyses used for product claims and critical R&I decisions.

Who You Are

You are an analytical thinker with a passion for turning data into clarity. You combine scientific depth with business understanding and enjoy working in dynamic, multidisciplinary teams.

  • Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data modelling, advanced analytics, or applied statistics.
  • Experience with modelling tools (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB), simulation environments, and data platforms.
  • Strong communication skills — you can translate complex models into business-relevant insights.
  • Experience in R&D, engineering-driven environments, or manufacturing is a strong plus.
  • Curious, structured, and able to challenge assumptions with data.

What we offer

  • A role at the heart of AFA’s innovation ecosystem.
  • A dynamic, international working environment with cross-functional collaboration.
  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • 30 vacation days (based on a 40-hour work week).
  • 8% holiday allowance.
  • A solid collective pension plan
  • A modern office in Eindhoven designed for creativity and collaboration.
  • Opportunities for professional development through the AFA Academy.
  • The chance to help shape the future of dispensing technology.

Interested?

Are you the Data Scientist who will drive AFA’s next wave of innovation? We’d love to hear from you.
